It sounds like we had some serious fireworks over the weekend at a Cubs-Brewers game where Fox 6-Milwaukee TV reporter A.J. Bayatpour was arrested on a battery charge after (allegedly) drilling Milwaukee TV reporter Ben Jordan (@BenJordan3) with a punch after he stepped into a confrontation between Bayatpour and fellow Fox 6 reporter Madeline Anderson.
That’s right, a weird Anchorman-style brawl in Miller Park that resulted in Bayatpour posing for a mugshot.
From FTV.com who obtained the police report:
I stopped at the Brewers game to check on officers and ensure that they were abiding by the terms of the contract. In other words, being out on the concourse and visible. As I walked through, I found officers to be properly uniformed and highly visible.
Lt. Olson notified me from the Brewers CP of a high profile substantial battery. Fox 6 news reporter AJ Bayatpour punched a victim identified as Benjamin Jordan and caused a significant injury. Apparently Mr. Bayatpour was ridiculing a Fox 6 coworker identified as Mattalyn Anderson. Her boyfriend, Mr. Jordan stepped in to defend Ms. Anderson. The argument escalated and Mr. Bayatport (SIC) threw a punch!
Mr. Bayatport (SIC) fled the scene and has not been located yet. CIB took over the investigation and will be managing the case going forward. Lt. Olson also reported a typical Chicago Cubs busy night. 5 citations were issued and 11 people were ejected.
Bayatpour, Anderson and Jordan have been silent on Twitter about the incident. FTV reports that those involved were not working the game.
For those of you wondering, I can’t seem to find a story from Fox 6 about their reporter punching another local reporter and being arrested. They buried this at the bottom of a report on fights at Miller Park: FOX6 News is aware a WITI employee was involved in an altercation at Miller Park on Friday night, and we are investigating the incident.
