There Are Reasons Youth Can Outshine Experience

The younger generation is taking the entrepreneurial and business world by storm. There are several reasons for this, of course. There are many articles around that denigrate the millennial generation, but there are several things that they get right, too. And one them is that they are more likely to launch new endeavours starting with setting up a business website instead of renting of real-existing store in a town.
Using an eCommerce platform allows them to be able to monetize their online business so that even though they may be willing to do some things for less money to get the experience, they can still earn some income as they go.
According to Forbes, there are more people in Generation Z than in any other that want to start their own business. Generation Z encompasses those born between 1994 and 2010.
These young people are more likely to make sure that they have a business website from the start. And they can create a business web page easily these days. That is why there is no wonder that one of the things that is especially on the rise today is startups created by young people. They invented a simple recipe for success: you grab any cheap website builder for business, create a website that fits your need, and voila – your business is on the market!
But why these young people get more success that seasoned businessmen? It can’t be that the whole secret is only in creating a website, right? Well, let’s see a bit closer to the difference between the generations.

Young People Have Less Responsibility than Their Older Counterparts

They don’t have a family to support.  There are no kids waiting at home with school field trips and extracurricular activities to pay for. There are no bills piling up with collections calls.  Because these obligations do not exist for them, there is a great deal more flexibility. This can make all the difference in the world when it comes to being willing to take risks and chances.

They Tend to Be a Bit More Naïve

Believe it or not, naivety can actually work to their advantage, rather than being a hindrance, as you might expect. Because there is lack of understanding and knowledge of what is normal and expected and accepted, there is no preconceived notion of what can and can’t be done. This makes these young people more likely to push the envelope and to innovate and come up with new ideas.

They Are More Willing to Take a Chance

Remember up above where we mentioned being willing to take risks? It bears mentioning here again. The more risk is involved, the higher the return, potentially speaking, anyway.

Let’s Face It, They Have More Time on Their Hands

Lack of responsibility leads to more free time. They are free to come up with ideas and come up with ways to implement them because they do not have other responsibilities weighing on them. They don’t have a whole list of other demands on their time, attention and energy. They can devote all of their attention to the task at hand.

They Are Willing and Eager

Because of this single trait right here, they are often likely to take on lower paying or even nonpaying gigs just to get their foot in the door and get experience that can lead to them being able to go off on their own much faster. Since they don’t have those responsibilities that their older counterparts have, they are often willing to take unpaid internships to learn the lay of the land and figure out how this all works. This gives them a HUGE advantage in the long run.
Experience has long been valued as one of the most valuable traits. Or at least it used to be. But in the current business and entrepreneurial climate, it’s not the only thing that matters anymore. There are other things that experience cannot teach you. And sometimes, there are things that experience just cannot teach you.
Those of the older generations may be sitting here scoffing at this right now, and that is perfectly understandable. It has been the norm for a long time that experience has been the king. But it is starting to look like that is no longer the case.  After all, how many of you in the older generation can say that some of the above listed qualities and traits would apply to you if you were considering starting your own business?
So the next time you find yourself getting annoyed about all of those millennials who are destroying the world with all of those irritating things that they are doing, it might be a good idea to think twice about voicing that opinion. After all, they are the ones who seem to be taking over our business world, and you may find yourselves working for them one day. And in retrospect, that might not be such a bad thing after all, if you really think about it, now would it?
