Red Wings Prospect Givani Smith Might Get In Trouble For Throwing Around A Ref

Word out of the OHL this week is that Red Wings draft pick and prospect Givani Smith could face a 10-game suspension for what went down Tuesday during a game between Kitchener and Sarnia. As you can see in the videos, Smith got LIT AF and threw linesman Dustin McCrank down to get to Sarnia’s Kelton Hatcher.

Smith, 20, was a 2nd round draft pick of the Red Wings in the 2016 NHL draft.

Here’s the spot in the OHL rule book that could sink the rest of the regular season for Smith:

40.3 Automatic Suspension – Category II – Any player who deliberately applies physical force to an official in any manner (excluding actions as set out in Category I), which physical force is applied without intent to injure, or who spits on an official, shall be automatically suspended for not less than ten (10) games.

Let’s go to the tape!

Guess we will see tomorrow if Smith gets suspended for this. pic.twitter.com/iXpDuMLEf4
