Here’s a story that is straight up nightmare fuel: a Florida man by the name of Juan Carlos Cabrera Jr. was arrested Tuesday after randomly attacking a woman in front of a motel in Lantana. According to the Palm Beach Post, the victim assumed Cabrera was just a landscaper since he had a chainsaw, but he ended up being a sociopath and jumped out of the bushes in a murder attempt.
From the report:
The woman was walking west on the 1200 block of Hypoluxo Road in front of the Super 8 motel at about 7:30 a.m. when the attacker jumped out from behind bushes and knocked her to the ground.
…
During questioning by investigators, Cabrera allegedly said he saw the victim then decided, “I’m going to end this woman’s life.”
Cabrera was staying at the Super 8 motel, Scheller said. Police requested a warrant to search the room. The room’s contents might provide a motivation behind the attack, the chief said.
Cabrera, 20, had been arrested twice before for minor drug offenses (marijuana). He’s now looking at charges of first-degree murder, cocaine possession and attacking an officer. His explanation for all of this? A “mental breakdown.”
The victim underwent surgery after suffering slash wounds to her arms and chest, but is expected to live.
