Herbie is heading to the draft

Everybody’s been talking about who will replace Gruden in the MNF booth and people forgot that he also was a fixture of ESPN’s draft coverage. Yesterday it was announced that Kirk Herbstreit will take over that role. It’s about time we got a real college guy in there:

ESPN announced Thursday that Herbstreit will be part the opening night coverage of the first round in prime time on April 26 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Herbstreit will be joined by host Trey Wingo, draft analyst Mel Kiper and NFL analyst Louis Riddick.
Rounds two and three are April 27, and rounds four through seven are April 28.

Outside of McShay and Kiper who are always in scout mode, it’ll be nice to have a guy there who lives and breathes college football and knows the players a little more than just the All-22.
