Meet Sofya Fedorova — Russian Snowboarder

Tonight is set to be a huge night of Olympic coverage with a gold medal final in women’s speed skating, a gold medal final in men’s cross country, the men’s freestyle skiing final, and even some late night women’s hockey. Mixed in there is the women’s snowboarding big air qualifications. They basically took all of the sports that are interesting and that we care about and put them together in one night.

So that means today we’ll meet Russian snowboarder Sofya Fedorova. She’s competing under the “Olympic Athletes from Russia” team because Russia just LOVES doing steroids and we all have to pretend that they aren’t actually competing even though most of their athletes still are.

She finished 8th in the women’s slopestyle last week, now she’s taking her talents to the big air event looking to improve that finish.

Sofya’s Bio:

She took up the sport at age 13 in Krasnogorsk, Russian Federation. Her father introduced her to the sport.

In 2016 she received the title of Master of Sport of International Class in the Russian Federation.

Her most memorable sporting achievement was winning gold in big air and silver in slopestyle at the 2016 World Junior Championships in Seiser Alm, Italy.
