Russian snowboarder Alena Zavarzina will undoubtedly be one of the names to watch at the ladies’ parallel giant slalom event next week. When someone says they are on their way to “kick ass on Feb. 24 no matter what” in their Instagram bio, you take notice.
This will be Alena’s third appearance in the Winter Olympics, as she previously competed in both Vancouver and Sochi. She medaled in her homeland and took home bronze in the parallel giant slalom. It’s worth noting there are no Americans competing in this event so NBC might actually be forced to give athletes from other counties airtime.
