I got to my Motel 6 in Minneapolis this morning — interesting place to say the least, but the last thing I’d want to be accused of is being like Barstool, so we booked the cheapest place we could find — and turned on the flat screen TV (I’m sure it’s locked to the wall) to the local news because that’s always a way to get a taste for a Super Bowl host city.
And what do I see? Ice fishing! Or so I thought.
It turns out that WCCO-CBS had me fooled. I thought the station’s building was on some pond out in the suburbs. Wrong. The broadcast building is in downtown Minneapolis and there’s no pond. WCCO created an ice fishing set complete with no ice, but there is a fish tank under a platform where anchors are getting their lines wet.
The legend, James Brown, stopped by on Monday to get his line wet for a good cause. I can’t bash the station too much for creating fake ice fishing if there’s money being raised for kids.
Big thanks to @JBsportscaster for braving the cold and #FishingForACES on our rooftop! This was his first time ice fishing and he got a…🦐! pic.twitter.com/oxe0qt6f8n
