You could’ve gotten your own Heisman Trophy for a cool $400K
Yesterday, Rashaan Salaam’s 1994 Heisman Trophy was auctioned off a little over a year after his death and it broke records, selling for almost $400,000. Good news – some of that is going to CTE research.
Sporting News:
The former Colorado running back had sold his award two years prior to his death in December 2016, but it sold again Saturday for a record $399,608, according to SCP Auctions.
The online auction opened bidding on Jan. 8 and closed this weekend, with a portion of the proceeds from the sale set to be donated to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) research in Salaam’s memory.
The previous record for a Heisman Trophy sale? Bruce P. Smith’s 1941 trophy for $395,240 in 2005.

I don’t endorse divorce, but this Oilers jersey pairing is creative. pic.twitter.com/Uqrb3XXp5E
