I Got The Guys Together To Talk Hockey Today…That's 2017 ECHL Coach Of The Year Dan Watson

I know there will be the “nobody cares about your worthless life in Ohio” crowd who wants to crush me for having a sorta personal life away from life on some “irrelevant” blog, as they like to say. Keep on hatin’.
As for me, I’ll just be over here talking to an up-and-coming ECHL coach, Dan Watson, about some old hockey stories. There’s no need to talk to the same old athletes out there who won’t say anything interesting. I’d rather talk to Watson who’ll tell us about how he had his nose flattened the first time he dropped the gloves against a heavyweight in the AHL.
I’d rather talk to a guy who said he didn’t know the heavyweight he went with was a lefty — didn’t have scouting reports — and the guy’s fist was connecting with his nose before he could even throw a punch.
You know what I love? Minor league stories about how these guys rough it for the chance to just play one game at the top level. As Watson told us today, if he would’ve played just one game in the NHL, he would’ve talked about his NHL days as if he played 11 games in the league.
That call never made it, but now he’s a 38-year-old ECHL head coach making his way up the ladder while making Crock-Pot meals for his three kids and driving 200 and some miles round trip each day to and from the rink.
*Fast-forward to 5:00 mark. I screwed up the audio at the beginning.
