Jim Edmonds Suffers Ruptured Patellar Tendon While Playing Basketball

So former Angels/Cardinals great Jim Edmonds is headed into 2018 on a serious down note, as he announced on IG that he suffered a ruptured patellar tendon while playing basketball with his son. Apparently ol’ Jim, 47, went down in a heap after showing his kid he still has “it” — but hey, at least he got this sweet pic for The Gram:

Working out with my son on the courts. Showing him I still have it/had it. 📸 cred @landonedmonds23 should have stoped there. The next jump snap!!! Had to be wheel chaired out And 30 min later at the Dr with a ruptured patellar tendon. You can tell by the Second and third picture. I got someone that will help me every step of the way. Oh yea, Last time touching the rim in this lifetime. Not a good start to the new year.

This is an ill-timed injury for a number of reasons: 1) Obviously it’s New Year’s Weekend and 2) Jim and his wife just announced they’re expecting twins next June. Jim’s going to have a lot on his plate in the coming months rehabbing from injury and taking care of a pregnant wife. We wish him the best of luck.
