NBA journeyman Matt Barnes announced his retirement from the NBA on Instagram on Monday, and he did it the only way Matt Barnes can: middle finger emojis to the haters. Classic.

Barnes played 14 seasons in the NBA with notable stints on the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Clippers, and Golden State Warriors. He won his first NBA championship as a reserve player for the Warriors last season, which is a solid way to get over the three heartbreaking seasons he spent on the CP3-Blake Griffin Clippers.
The UCLA product also made off-court headlines for beefing with former teammate Derek Fisher, who is now dating his ex-wife Gloria Govan. You might remember that he allegedly beat D-Fish’s ass over that a couple years ago.
I may be in the minority on this one, but I’ll miss Matt Barnes and the drama he stirred up on the court. Petty fights, trash talking, hard fouls — the NBA really needs a Barnes-type to step up and fill the void.
