In a total shocker, President Donald Trump wants a pat on the back for getting disgraced UCLA basketball players LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill out of China after allegedly shoplifting at a Louis Vuitton store. I know, I know. Total shocker coming from POTUS — the man is usually low key and goes about his presidential business without much drama.

Do you think the three UCLA Basketball Players will say thank you President Trump? They were headed for 10 years in jail!

The man does have a point. There should probably be some sort of acknowledgment from the “UCLA 3” given that they weren’t charged at all for their crime and got to skate free. POTUS implied on Tuesday they were guilty of something (via The LA Times):

“What they did was unfortunate,” Trump said. “You know, you’re talking about very long prison sentences. … They do not play games” in China.

Trump credited Xi with assisting in the matter, saying the Chinese leader “has been terrific on that subject. But that was not a good subject. That was not something that should have happened.”

Update: Cody Riley thanks Trump.
