Let's Check In With Joe & Sarah Haden To See How They're Holding Up After Joe Was Released & Signed With The Steelers

What does it feel like to be released from the jail that is a contract with the Cleveland Browns? Joe Haden has you covered. He had a big Wednesday when he signed a contract to join the Steelers, become an instant Super Bowl contender and, at 28, gets a new lease on life.
Of course he’s going to have a huge smile on his face. Of course his wife is going to celebrate like Joe just hit the life lottery. Of course she’s going to let him slay it. Of course this is the best thing to happen to Joe’s career.
The guy just signed a 3-year, $27 million contract with the Steelers.
I’m going to write that again so it sinks in.
The guy just signed a 3-year, $27 million contract with the Steelers.
I know what you’re going to say here: Joe didn’t have to sign an extension back in 2014 with the Browns. He could’ve gotten out earlier…if it was such a prison sentence he could’ve moved on.
Ahh, but that 2014 contract included a HUGE amount of guaranteed money. I’m talking a giant pile of f-you money. He had no choice but to take it. These NFL guys have to get that pile of $40 million or so dollars while they can.
Now comes the part of his career where he gets to do the Darrelle Revis thing where you go chase a ring. Haden is 28. Revis is 32 and out of the league. Time is running out for Haden. He has his money, now it’s about wins. His Browns teams from 2010-2016 had 29 wins.
It’s no wonder this guy is smiling.

Sarah seems devastated by the news:
