I put the word out last week that I was looking for BC followers who wanted to be college football pollsters for the 2017. I wasn’t ready for the onslaught of DMs from guys looking to be pollsters. Had no idea so many of you cared. Had no idea it meant as much as some of you made it sound. Had no idea how to put it all together.
One thing led to another and I was creating Google Sheets to automate the process and calculate the votes sent in by the initial 56 guys who will become the first class of BC voters.
I had no clue how you guys would vote. Had no idea where most of you come from. Had no idea which teams you rooted for. Had no idea how any of this would go, and yet here we are with a Top 25 that I feel is pretty damn strong. Is it OK to have Texas at 23? AP voters have the Longhorns at 23. Is it OK to have Florida State with a No. 1 vote? Yep, the Seminoles got AP first place votes.
Shockingly, the BC Top 25 is very similar to the AP top 25. It wouldn’t take many rogue voters to shift the standings.
The biggest shock in this preseason poll has to be the other teams receiving votes. Take a look at that group of teams. Didn’t think I’d see Virginia or New Mexico on that list. Cincinnati? But that’s what makes the BC CFB poll so great.
We start here and go all the way to early December.
