Pawtucket Red Sox Will Host 'Kyrie Irving Night' Featuring A LeBron Dunk Tank

Here we have yet another minor league team seeing an opportunity and taking advantage of it. I’ve said once and I’ll say it again, nobody knows how to market, promote, and get fans into the building quite like MiLB teams. For example, back in July we saw ‘Villian Appreciation Night” in Brooklyn, where the Cyclones brought Shooter McGavin out from whatever the hell he’s doing these days to throw out the first pitch and sing ‘Take Me Out To The Ball Game’.

Now we have the PawSox doing the same. They saw a window with the big Kyrie trade to the Celtics, they know the entire city of Boston loathes LeBron James, so what do they do? They promote a ‘Kyrie Irving Night’ for tonight’s game and let fans dunk the shit out of some poor Cavs fan.

More details:

Today the PawSox announced that tomorrow, Thursday, August 24, will be “Kyrie Irving Night” at McCoy Stadium in celebration of yesterday’s blockbuster trade between the Celtics and Cavaliers that brought star point guard, Kyrie Irving, to Boston.
To start, any fan wearing the color green or Celtics paraphernalia will receive a Free General Admission Ticket to tomorrow night’s 7:05 pm game between the PawSox and Buffalo Bisons. Fans must pick up their complimentary tickets at the McCoy Stadium Box Office.
The PawSox will also offer a grand prize “Lucky Green Ticket” in honor of Kyrie’s new number 11. One fortunate fan will find a green shamrock on his or her seat upon entering the ballpark, bestowing that fan with a prize pack for 11 complimentary flex tickets to the 2018 regular season at McCoy Stadium, 11 hot dogs, 11 free caps at the PawSox Baseball Store, and 11 baseballs autographed by various members of the PawSox.
Promotions and giveaways throughout the game will also have a Celtics’ flair to them, and other surprises are in store to celebrate this big week in New England sports.
“We know how popular the Boston Celtics are throughout the area,” said PawSox Executive Vice President & General Manager, Dan Rea, “and we hope that our fans will enjoy an evening that trumpets Kyrie Irving’s arrival.”

By the way, I love that they threw in Steph and Lonzo’s name into the people who “will be charged double” even though they had zero to do with this trade. I respect the pettiness.
