Some Cubs Players Jokingly Wanted President Trump To Fire Miguel Montero

It was my great honor to welcome the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago @Cubs ⚾️ to the @WhiteHouse this afternoon. Congratulations! pic.twitter.com/ZZl3GrFFU9

It’s a super slow Friday before 4th of July weekend, so here’s a pretty funny story that came yesterday from the Cubs. As you might’ve heard, catcher Miguel Montero was DFA’d after not being able to throw out any baserunners stealing second and then promptly blamed his pitching staff instead of himself. Rather than create any more clubhouse drama, they just cut him to get it over with.

Miguel Montero is being designated for assignment by the Cubs.

But here comes the good part. Apparently, at least according to Peter Gammons, Cubs players were so done with Miguel Montero that they thought it would be hilarious if Donald Trump fired him when they went to the Oval Office:

Would this ever in a million years happen? No, but it’s definitely a fun thing to imagine.
