I’ll never understand why more NFL players don’t try and go the professional wrestling route when their careers are over. I mean look at how successful former football players have been in wrestling. You had The Rock and Roman Reigns, just to name a couple, who played in college. You also had Brock Lesnar, who had a cup of tea in the NFL, become a WWE superstar too. So it’s not like former football players come in and instantly become wrestling scrubs.
Or maybe I’m completely underestimating the strain wrestling has on your body and when these guys are done with football, they’re done with everything involving contact. They just want to get the hell out and sit on a beach for the rest of their lives. I don’t blame them.
But DeAngelo Williams here is still relatively young, only 34. Right now he’s a free agent and whether or not a team signs him is unclear, so he’s decided to be a pro wrestler.
His first event is going to be a tag-team match at Impact’s Slammiversary XV pay-per-view on July 2nd. I hope he does well. I need to see this dude make his way to the WWE.
