If what I saw of Vince Young — via Twitter — during the Saskatchewan Roughriders mini-camp at Dodgertown in Vero Beach this week is any indication of what we’re going to see from VY once the Canadian Football League begins on June 22, then VINCE IS BACK!
Vince, who turns 34 on May 18, hasn’t thrown a pass in an official NFL game since 2011, but that obviously doesn’t matter to the CFL who has media following Vince’s practices like they’re Japanese and following Ichiro back in like 2004.
How different are times for Vince? He’s being trained to hold snaps. Clearly there won’t be any easy rides for Vince in the CFL.
Young laughed when he was asked about it and admitted that it was the first time he’d held on a long-snap.
“I thought I did a pretty good job,” he said.
He looked a little uncomfortable down on one knee, catching and planting the ball down, step-by-stepping his way through it with Riders special teams coordinator Craig Dickenson. Young may not know it, but that moment was his most important one of the day.
Clearly…Vince IS BACK. It’s official.
