30 years ago tonight, the WWE rolled into the Pontiac Silverdome for WrestleMania 3 and Hulk leg dropped Andre, creating one of the biggest sports stories of the 1980s and sent crazy Detroiters into a frenzy like their union just signed a new deal and they were getting a 10% raise per year of the new deal at the shop.
The Detroit News is out today with a huge feature on all things WrestleMania 3. For those of you who weren’t alive yet or weren’t old enough to remember, you should read this.
20 years later, President Trump would shave Vince McMahon’s head after losing a Battle of the Billonaires match. There’s just something about the WWE and Detroit. That said, I’m kinda shocked they didn’t go back for the 30th anniversary. I’m no WWE insider so I have no idea whether there was a discussion about going back. How great would it have been to put the band back together one more time. Hogan, Trump, Vince, Ricky Steamboat, etc. One final time.
Instead, Wrestlemania 33 will be held in Orlando this Sunday. There’s some serious scaffolding going on in Orlando.
The #WrestleMania set actually has a rollercoaster. I hope Braun enters on it. pic.twitter.com/8YyTgUldzv
