With the NBA Trade deadline just two days away, the Los Angeles Lakers decided now is the perfect time to nuke upper management and fired Mitch Kupchak, reassigned Jim Buss, and promoted Magic Johnson to President of Basketball Ops.

Magic, of course, returned to the Lakers earlier this month as an “adviser,” but you didn’t have to be an insider to know he was gunning for something more within the franchise. In a little over two weeks, that comes to fruition in the form of a fancy new President title.
