Details on How Alabama’s Dakota Ball Shot Off His Finger With a Shotgun



Two weeks ago, Alabama defensive lineman Dakota Ball appeared on the injury report after reportedly pulling a modified Plaxico Burress (to his finger) in a hunting accident. So Bama.
Today, Ball spoke at length about his self-inflicted shotgun blast at Peach Bowl Media Day. Per AL.com’s Michael Casagrande, he blew that finger right off trying to tie a rope around the barrel and stock:

“I shot my finger off with a 12-gauge shotgun,” he said matter of factly.
“It’s completely gone,” he said. “I shot it right at the knuckle and blew it off.”

The report adds Ball’s finger had no chance as doctors had to go “two inches down” and cut the bone out. Unsurprisingly, he won’t be available for Saturday’s showdown against Washington.
