Good News: Minor Leaguer Hits Grand Slam….The Bad News: The Salami Smashed His Truck Windshield

Brandon Thomas, who plays in the Frontier League for the Gateway Grizzlies, is goin’ viral this morning after word started to spread that he hit a grand slam Sunday night that shattered his truck windshield. “Definitely worth it!!,” Thomas tweeted about his salami that led to a 17-6 Grizzlies victory.
Thomas was 2 for 5 with the Slam, two runs scored and three strikeouts. Of course that Slam was worth the insurance claim. He’s going to add a couple hundred Twitter followers, grab some attention from other minor league teams and have a little buzz going into the Mexican League or wherever he plays in the winter.

From the Grizzlies PR team:

The biggest hit of the night though was the grandslam shot from Brandon Thomas. With two outs and the Grizzlies down by three, Thomas knew he had to step up early in the game. Right off the swing of the bat, he knew it was gone, but he did not know where it would land. By some misfortunes and a little bit of luck, that ball landed right on his very own windshield of his truck. The windshield shattered and so did the score after that one shot. The Grizzlies went on to score 13 more times, a total of 17 runs, the most all season for the team.

Don’t worry about Thomas’ bank account. This story is being turned into a marketing campaign.
