It’s the less famous “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign, but it’s still an iconic sign that lost its life this weekend when what looks like a Chevy Z-71 plowed through the “Welcome to Fabulous Downtown Las Vegas” sign at S. 4th & S. Las Vegas Blvd. You might recognize the location from your drunken bus rides downtown to slum it at the cheap tables during your first trip to Vegas.
According to the Las Vegas Sun:
Police said the crash occurred at about 6:50 a.m. The wreckage of both car and sign were hauled away by 10 a.m.

Police said that it doesn’t appear the driver was impaired and that the crash remains under investigation.
RIP “Welcome to Fabulous Downtown Las Vegas” sign…it was a short life. 2002-2016.
