It’s that time of year again for Girlfriends of the College World Series. First up — Haley Walsh, girlfriend of Florida Gators first baseman Peter Alonso, who was just drafted in the 2nd round by the Mets.
You know how this works: ESPN cameras go nuts at the College World Series looking for the dimes for a week straight. Some player becomes the hero and his hot girlfriend ends up being shown 50 times during the week. She becomes a bigger Internet star that him and the rest is history. Meanwhile, we try to predict which dime will get the TV exposure.
Haley Walsh, a recent Michigan State grad, just might be in the driver’s seat here. Florida’s the #1 team in the nation. Alonso leads the team with a .373 batting average. There’s also the 13 home runs.

“Growing up I watched Jose Reyes and David Wright,” Alonso said, “then seeing how remarkable of a postseason they had last year … I know we fell short but it was incredible to watch. They have an amazing team.”
Alonso has big dreams: He wants to be a masher for the Mets.
“I’ve always been a hitter, always been able to swing the bat really well,” he said. “That’s been pretty consistent throughout my whole life and definitely one of the biggest strengths of my game.”
Now we just need to pray the ESPN director calls for a shot of Haley & Gators get to the title 3-game series.
