The Cleveland Cavaliers were unable to even up the series at 2-2, as the Golden State Warriors pulled out a 108-97 Game 4 victory on Friday night. A stretch of 6:36 without a field goal in the 4th quarter ultimately doomed the Cavs, who will now try to become the first team to ever overcome a 3-1 deficit in the Finals.
After scoring just 48 total points over the first three games of the series, Steph Curry erupted in Game 4. The back-to-back MVP winner scored 38 points on 11-25 shooting from the floor, 7-13 shooting from 3-point range, and 9-10 shooting from the free throw line.
Klay Thompson also had a nice game, scoring 25 points and hitting 4 3-pointers. As a team, Golden State set an NBA Finals record with 17 made 3-pointers.
Kyrie Irving lead the way for the Cavs, dropping 34 points on 14-28 shooting from the floor. LeBron James had 25 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals, 3 blocks, and 7 turnovers. Turnovers continue to be a problem for James, as he’s coughed up the rock 23 times through the first 4 games of the Finals.
When the Warriors try to close out the series tonight and become the 7th team in NBA history to win back-to-back championships, they’ll have to do it without Draymond Green. The serial nut puncher received his 4th flagrant foul of the playoffs for hitting James in the groin in Game 4, so he’ll have to serve a one-game suspension.
