The Charleston Riverdogs (Single-A) had themselves a wild Opening Day Thursday before the players even took the field. Bill Murray, co-owner and Director of Fun for the Riverdogs, played catcher for Mayor John Tecklenburg’s first pitch and then picked up the 60 year old and dropped him like a bad habit.
And that was AFTER Tecklenburg played the national anthem on a piano. Now that’s an Opening Day in the minors.
Murray also decided to have a little fun with the Mayor. Aka he dropped him. pic.twitter.com/Ex7O7PgPtB

Baseball is back in Charleston.
“I believe you forget your troubles at the ballpark,” Murray said before the game began. “All these people here — they’re in a grace. They’re in a state of grace right here coming to the ballpark.”
