It looks like it’s finally over. The Johnny Manziel saga in Cleveland seems to have reached its conclusion today with Executive VP Sashi Brown dropping the hammer in a statement (via Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot):
“We’ve been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field. Johnny’s continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization,” Brown said in the statement. “His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. We will have no further comment at this time.”
Of course, this isn’t really breaking news if you’re a devout BC follower — Johnny’s been working (drinking) his ass off in Dallas for a solid month to force the Browns to get rid of him.
But with a trade/cut coming soon, we thought now would be a good time to remember the highlights of Johnny Football’s two-year stint in Cleveland. It’s only right considering the epic amount of traffic he’s given to the blogosphere.
