ECHL Player Arrested For Arson, Says He Was Burning Love Letters

Hockey defenseman Justin Agosta has 8 goals and 8 assists through 23 games this season in the ECHL for the Florida Everblades, which is why he’s been spending some of his 2015-16 season at the AHL level. The guy is having one of those seasons on the ice where he’s going to be moving up, improving his career and making more money. Off the ice, Agosta has an arson charge to deal with after allegedly burning love letters on December 30 outside his apartment entrance. The guy wasn’t messing around — he used gasoline.
From the Naples News:

The 25-year-old told firefighters who responded to his apartment along the 11200 block of Everblades Parkway in Estero that he was upset with his girlfriend when he bought gasoline at a nearby gas station to douse the letters. Agosta said he tried to put the fire out with water and a towel when it got out of control near the entrance of his apartment and caused damage to the front of his building and walls where soot collected. The fire sprinkler went off and Agosta dialed 911 to alert firefighters.

Now, a quick look at Agosta’s Twitter account doesn’t reveal anything about the arson or being heartbroken. It’s straightforward hockey stuff. His IG is private. Nothing about burning letters.
Couple things here: Who writes love letters these days? That’s one of the most absurd things I’ve heard in the last 5-6 years. And it’s psycho if those letters were in cursive. Also, Justin’s a little too early in his pro hockey career to be getting worked up over some chick. There are literally thousands of ECHL puck bunnies who’ll make him forget the ex.
Move on, bro.

Happier times for Agosta:
