You’re all aware of sneakerheads losing their goddamn minds over Jordans and Yeezys, but here’s a new one: people are bidding up a storm for a limited pair of Kyrie Irving’s first signature shoe on eBay. Like, this auction is so serious that the shoes above have reached $7,000 with over a day remaining.
Apparently only 150 were made and folks who wanted a pair had to win a competition but still, it’s Kyrie Irving. Not Jordan. Not Kobe. Not LeBron. KYRIE — the guy who’s been on the shelf for like half of his career.
Details from the lucky seller:
You are bidding on a Uncle Drew Nike Kyrie 1 Limited Edition Locker Kit. It is #130 out of 150. Released as part of a special promotion with Pepsi, the kit includes, metal showcase locker that contains the white with blue swoosh limited edition Kyrie 1 basketball kicks, Uncle Drew hoodie, Nike Elite Cushioned Basketball socks and Uncle Drew Bobblehead. NOTE: The bobblehead was DAMAGED during shipping. Both hands were broken off. This is being sold as is. The broken hands are included in the kit, so you can crazy glue them back on if you wish. Size listed in the tag is 8.5. Assuming that is a UK size, because there is no way it’s a US size, the sneakers are too big for an 8.5, that would make these a 10.5 US which looks about right. NO GUARANTEE on the size, it’s my best guess.
Unbelievable. So to recap, the toss-in bobblehead is damaged and the seller has no clue about the sizing, yet here we are standing at $7,000.
On the plus side, the seller is generously shipping for free!
Fun fact: The Kyrie 1 retailed for $110.
