Ian Rapoport came out with this big report Sunday morning that Peyton Manning wasn’t happy in a backup role and that it’s starter or else. Oh, that created a fire in Pey Pey’s belly. The fire was still burning later in the day when ESPN’s Jeff Legwold caught up to the GOAT. That’s when GOAT dropped a “bullshit” and told Legwold to run with it.
Here’s what started the drama.

Now the Manning quote reported by @Jeff_Legwold:
“I asked Peyton Manning on his way out of locker room if he had any response to a report this morning he had mad [sic] Broncos aware he didn’t want to be a backup. His response; ‘it’s bullshit and it’s insulting.’ I asked if that was on the record he said; ‘yes, I can’t say it any plainer than that.’”
There were questions about Jeff’s quote from Manning so Jeff clarified it all for us.
OK, so Peyton would be the backup if healthy and the situation is right? He wouldn’t be on starter-or-else terms? You know what, I couldn’t be any happier heading into McCarron-Osweiler. The media is softening up the Broncos for the #2 seed game next Monday night. Seems like the perfect opportunity for McCarron to sneak out of Mile High with a historic win and the bye week.
Give me more tears, Peys. From the Denver Post:
Before the game against Pittsburgh, the NFL Network aired a report by Ian Rapaport that said Manning was chafing at the idea of serving as a backup to Osweiler, and citing an unnamed source, suggested Manning was inclined not to accept a supporting role as the No. 2 quarterback in Denver.
“It’s a flat-out lie. It’s insulting. And it’s distracting.” Manning said. He spoke calmly but refuted the report in the strongest terms. “That’s 100 percent bull—-. No. 1, it is bull—-. And No. 2, it’s insulting. The worst part about being hurt is that a lot of people seem to know everything about you and speak for you, even when it’s somebody you don’t even know.”
The Broncos seem rattled here. So vulnerable.
