Someone wrote a poem for Kobe Bryant to put on the Players’ Tribune to announce that this will be Black Mamba’s last season in the NBA…as if you didn’t already realize that. He’s shooting 31% from the field. 20% from three. He’s struggling to drop 15 PPG. The sweet poem finally put the Kobe era out of its misery and created a scenario where Kobe can now go on his farewell tour – first stop in his hometown of Philadelphia – where fans will have one more chance to see their crippled hero.
Of course the Kobe poem hit the BDs hard. This is the end of an era that started in 1996-97. Think about that for a minute. Jordan was still winning titles when Kobe was getting started. That’s enough to make BDs in their late 30s tear up and start to feel old. That’s exactly what happened with this poem. Hit a BD hard.
