Notice what the MAC ref said last night during the Toledo-Central Michigan game when he mentioned that “there’s no noise from the cheerleaders or the band” to interrupt the snap. Have some damn respect for the game, Central Michigan cheerleaders. And the band should just know better. This isn’t JV ball, this is the MAC.
There’s a very specific NCAA rule about this and it’s not the first time it has come up.
Persons subject to the rules, including bands, shall not create any noise that prohibits a team from hearing its signals (Rule 1-1-6).
Of course there was Twitter outrage over the ref and that he was out of line, etc. It’s the typical response from people who don’t look up the rules.
