Last week, former No. 1 pick Greg Oden signaled his return to the hardwood, signing a one-year, $1.2 million deal with the Jiangsu Dragons. Now, GO probably would have preferred to sign with an NBA team, but we think this is a great plan B for a number of reasons.
First off, the guy hangs around Columbus way too much — he needed to get out and experience the world. Yes it’s great to be a fixture in the community, but your post-NBA legacy shouldn’t be the bust who hangs out in college bars. Also, there was nothing sadder than watching GO punk kids at the RPAC. You may not think so, but he’s above that.
If you don’t believe me, just check out his first practice session with the Dragons. GO absolutely wrecks his teammate in a session of one-on-one. Now the Dragons just have to throw him in a hyperbaric chamber and bubble wrap him to protect their investment.
