Collin McHugh Trips Off Mound Mid-Pitch, Still Gets the Out

If you go through tonight’s Rays-Astros box score, nothing about Collin McHugh’s stat line will jump out at you other than a solid pitching performance. However, you better believe the Astros starter had himself an odd fourth inning.
He started the inning in flashy fashion, retiring James Loney with a sweet behind-the-back grab:



Definitely not the first time we’ve seen that play this season, but then McHugh amped up the weirdness against Kevin Kiermaier.
As you can see below, McHugh slips during his wind-up, yet manages to induce a groundball after somehow throwing a pitch in the strike zone:
