“The Best Team Money Can Buy”
Hey everybody, it’s James the Assistant filling in for Joe, who’s going 125 mph in a pace car somewhere. I thought I’d get to talk Deflategate ruling but Rog is still biding his time, so instead I’ll give love to Molly Knight’s excellent book on the Dodgers, “The Best Team Money Can Buy.”
I’m an Angels fan, so when this book released I initially didn’t have much interest. However, after coming across excerpts of crazy incidents involving Yasiel Puig and Zack Greinke on the Internet, I reneged and placed my order. It definitely was not a mistake, as I spent most of my Saturday ravaging through pages and pages until there was nothing left. The last time I read a book from cover to cover was probably in college, so thanks Molly, for taking me away from the Internet and my phone.
Boxing is still shady as hell.
After reading Molly’s book, I turned my attention towards HBO Boxing for the Sergei Kovalev-Nadjib Mohammedi fight. (Yes, books and boxing — I had myself a “Throwback Saturday.”) That fight itself was a total blowout, with Kovalev railroading Mohammedi for a third-round KO, but the undercard of Jean Pascal vs. Yunieski Gonzalez was a total treat. These dudes were trading bombs throughout the fight, though it was evident that Gonzalez had the upper hand on Pascal, assaulting pascal with way more punches.
Of course, the judges somehow saw it as a unanimous decision for Pascal and Gonzalez was left weeping. Way to go, boxing.
