Tiger Woods won the Masters in 1997, 2001, 2002,2005. He was +5 in his first Masters as an amateur in 1995 and a +6 a year later before shooting an incredible -18 in 1997 for his first green jacket and launching the Tiger mania that didn’t die out until a Thanksgiving night incident in 2009 sent his career into a tailspin.
He’s back this week with a smile on his face, his kids along for the ride and knowledge that time is running out for major championship victories. Only six golfers older than 39-year-old Woods have won at Augusta: Hogan (40), Snead (41), Player (42), Nicklaus (46), Crenshaw (43), and O’Meara (41). That’s six in 77 events. The average age of a Masters winner is 32.
Even if he doesn’t win another Masters, Tiger has a few memorable moments at this course over the last 20 years.
