New York City FC Makes Its Debut At Yankee Stadium

Remember the days when the New York Yankees would never have to worry about a soccer team playing on their field in March? Gone. Those days are never coming back. Soccer now calls Yankee Stadium home. There is money to be made and soccer fans will pay $30 or so to sit in the nosebleeds to watch a MLS match. I know, it’s incredible.
The Yankees and NYC FC seem to be getting along pretty well with this soccer/baseball setup. Mark Teixeira doesn’t seem to have any issue with it.

“It’s going to suck,” Teixeira told the Daily News, “but you have to deal with it. It’s going to tear up the infield, but there’s nothing we can do about it, so we’ll deal with it.”

There will be scheduling instances where soccer matches and baseball games will be three days apart. And this cohabitation will last for at least a few years. NYC FC doesn’t have a stadium plan in place. Get ready for the tears from Yankees fans.
As for the match, NYC FC beat New England 2-0.
