Another Daytona 500 is in the books and the big takeaway from this year’s race is that there are big changes coming to Daytona International for fans attending the race. Those empty seats you saw on TV are new seats that will take the place of the seats on the backstretch that will be ripped out. (See the video below — grandpa is in the backstretch where they still use folding chairs). There were plenty of empty folding chairs. It looked like open seating — find an open area to sit and enjoy your own section.
Daytona is investing $400 million into the place. In all, 45,000 seats will be removed from the backstretch. You’ll soon have new concourses in the main grandstand to enjoy while you try to stay awake during the Super Bowl of NASCAR.
One of the big issues with NASCAR and Daytona is that there aren’t enough photos showing the fun had at the track. It just looks like a bunch of rednecks sitting around watching cars go in circles.
