With an early goal already under his belt, Alex Ovechkin decided to turn things up a notch against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a cheap shot on defender Kris Letang.
During the third period of a 1-1 game, the Capitals star winded up his stick and caught Letang in the ankle, sending him flying into the boards. But to much surprise, none of the four officials decided this was worth a penalty.
Letang’s teammates were rightfully pissed, as Letang missed time last month after suffering a concussion from a hit by Zac Rinaldo. (He left this game as well, but later returned.) In the video below, you can see some Penguins try to goad Ovi into fighting them (3:25 mark):

To make matters worse for Pitt, the Capitals scored two goals in the final period to come away with a 3-1 victory.
