NFL free agency doesn’t begin until March, but it’s looking like fans are already wheeling and dealing in the vehicle tailgate market. We’ve seen a Bengals bus, the 2014 Tailgate of the Year WVU van, and now, a super depressing 1986 Chevy Colts van.
It’s easily the worst of the trio, but here are details from the seller:
I have for sale a nice 1986 chevy van. Has aprox. 117,000 miles on it. We converted to a tailgating van in 1999 and only aprox. 2-3k miles ago. Has been in inside storage the entire time we have had it. Since we bought it we had it totally painted and graphics installed, new tires, under body blue neon kit, driving lights, vent guards, blue indoor carpet, cabinet with stainless steel top, Full strobe blue/clear light bar, siren, blue and clear strobe lights on rear doors, has another steel cabinet inside for storage. Had transmission rebuilt, coil pack, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, brakes, brake hose and caliper, battery, stereo. Has 305 5.0 liter v8 motor and auto trans. Runs, shifts and stops fine. Has hot heat. Has A/C but has never worked while we have owned it. Have well over $10k in it. $1850.00 FIRM!!
To be honest, I don’t see the $10,000 investment here. It just reminds me of the shady Seahawks van some guy was trying to rent out before the Super Bowl. Only, you know, with no working air conditioner.
The seller claims to have a blue indoor carpet installed, but you can’t even see it in the one photo of the interior provided. And the random blue neon light kit, really? Was that really what a van made in 1986 needed?
Sidenote: The buyer will probably want to update that “1999 AFC East Champions” decal to “2006 NFL Champions”—unless bragging about an outdated (and less impressive) accomplishment is a thing.
