I don’t care if ESPN has to develop some sort of “First Take” for the SEC Network, someone at the WWL needs to figure out a way to get Chelsea Gates (@CGates120Sports) into the mix. Maybe Fox comes in to make a contract offer. CBS is out of the picture. NBC SN doesn’t have actual shows. Look, right now it’s ESPN vs. Fox for the rights to make Chelsea Gates the next big superstar.
You take off your jacket while hosting some sort of “First Take” show on an Internet broadcast — 120Sports.com — and people like BC take notice. That’s what happened on Wednesday. Gates did her hosting gig minus the normal business jacket and all hell broke loose in the BC office. James “The Assistant” was going nuts. I’ve never seen the guy so excited.
SEC fans (specifically Florida) were already aware of Gates from her time working at local stations while covering the Gators. This 120Sports gig is affiliated with Sports Illustrated so she’s starting to make her way up the ladder to what should be that ultimate job at SEC Network. She knows the geography. She went to Florida.
