Joel Embiid Plays Defense on Nerlens Noel, Probably Not 300 Pounds

Last month, everyone freaked out when Keith Pompey of Philly.com reported that Twitter’s thirstiest user, Joel Embiid, had a weight issue and weighed nearly 300 pounds (according to his source):

Embiid has a weight issue. Although the Sixers wouldn’t disclose his weight, a source said he’s close to 300 pounds after being 250 pounds at Kansas last season.
His work ethic is being questioned by some inside the organization.
And a blowup with assistant strength and conditioning coach James Davis is one of the reasons he was sent home during the team’s recent West Coast road trip.

76ers fans, you can take a step off that ledge because Pompey uploaded a video on Thursday showing Embiid defending Nerlens Noel—and not looking pudgy at all. In fact, he looked pretty good for a guy who hasn’t played at all this year.
With Embiid actually doing things on a basketball court and the 76ers winning three of their last five games, this might qualify as one of their most successful stretches in a while.
