Soccer Fan Dies After Massive 180-Person Brawl

Before a match between Atletico Madrid and Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday, supporters of both teams clashed in a huge melee that left one person dead. You can see actual action from the explosion-filled altercation in the video above.

According to the Daily Mail, a 43-year-old man named Francisco Javier Romero Taboada died from injuries suffered during the brawl:

The man has been named as 43-year-old Deportivo supporter Francisco Javier Romero Taboada, who passed away at Madrid’s Hospital Clínico San Carlos on Sunday afternoon.

He was pulled out of the Manzanares river near Atletico’s Vicente Calderon stadium earlier on having suffered cardiac arrest, hypothermia and head injuries.

Footage of a man—that may or may not be Taboada—getting rescued from the river was uploaded to Youtube:


The report adds that 25 people were arrested in the 180-plus-person incident.
