NFL Playoff Probability
The Cardinals won on Sunday, but Carson Palmer went down with a torn ACL. That means Drew Stanton is the new starting QB for the 8-1 Cards. Probability still says they have a 39% of playing in the Super Bowl, but that number obviously doesn’t take into account that Palmer might be out for a long time. So that leaves the door open for Detroit. The Lions have a 91% probability of making the playoffs and 18% for the Super Bowl. Something has to give because these two teams play this Sunday in Arizona for the home-field advantage lead. If the Lions were ever going to get the home field, it’s this season. They still get the hopeless Bears twice, the Vikings and the Bucs.
Here Comes The Big Ten
Now with four teams in the top 25, the B1G is making a late push to get a team into the final four. Ohio State is now up to #8 in the AP poll with a loss to Va. Tech on its resume. That should tell you what’s going to happen if the Buckeyes win out. They’ll get into the playoff because the people who make money off college football will cash in. It’s that simple. If it comes down to the playoff committee chosing between the Big 12 and Ohio State, you know who’s getting in. It’s sad, but it’s economics and we all know that’s what this is really about.
