Look, Pete Rose doesn’t hide that he likes to place a bet here and there. He lives in Vegas and it’s legal, remember? Tim reports that “his bet slip was a horse race and said didn’t like any football.”
I know it looks bad to some of you that Pete would even be in a sportsbook. The thing about Pete is that he’s a sports gambling addict. He needs the action. He needs the rush. Adrenaline.
My dad used to go to the sulky races in Lebanon, Ohio. He would see Pete there betting the horses. That was at least 25-28 years ago. It’s just what Pete does. It’s what sports/dog/pony gamblers do.
My dad also used to tell me stories about how he had a friend who would walk into a room and gamble on games that were on replay. The guy wouldn’t know or care about who had already won the game, he just wanted action. So he’d call out a moneyline bet to his buddy and they’d gamble on a game that was over.
It’s just what these guys do. Pete’s just being Pete.
