No Biggie — Alaskan American Legion Game Has Bear Delay

Welcome to Alaska, where a baseball game can be interrupted by a plane crashing into the outfield fence or a bear pacing the outfield fence and wanting in. After all, it’s Alaska and there happen to be bears who live there.

This is from Father’s Day. It’s just your usualĀ American Legion game in mid-June. It’s the 5th inning in a game between West Post 1 and Juneau Post 25.

Post 25 crushed Post 1, 11-1, to complete a three-game weekend sweep. The Juneau Empire sports reporter didn’t even bother reporting there was a bear delay. It’s just not that uncommon.
