Poor A-Rod … Passing Time Lunching At Whole Foods

Future Hall of Famer Alex Rodriguez should be in the thick of this week’s home-and-home Subway Series between the Mets and Yankees. After all, it is Derek Jeter’s last appearance in the cross-city rivalry, and A-Rod should be there to take the mantle as the face of baseball in New York City.
But where is A-Rod? He’s eating lunch by himself at a Whole Foods in Miami (above and below).
Looks like he’s waiting forever on a goat cheese and tomato panini. You know goddamn Whole Foods is just trolling him; bet Giancarlo Stanton doesn’t have to wait that long.
Anyway, the Yankees have somehow made due at third base by using Yangervis Solarte (.330 BA) and Kelly Johnson (4 HR in 84 ABs) to fill in for Rodriguez.
The Yankees have lost their last five meetings with the Mets. A-Rod’s career stats vs. the Mets: 12 HRs, 37 RBIs and a .313 BA in 55 games.
The Yanks probably can’t wait to get A-Rod back in pinstripes to join Alfonso Soriano, Carlos Beltran and the rest of their core of the future.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez will just keep making real estate deals and waiting for the line around the hot bar to die down a bit so he can scoop up a little three-bean salad.
