Major League Baseball great Pete Rose talks with NASCAR team owner Glen Wood at the Daytona International Speedway prior to the start of the 1981 Daytona 500.

Pete was 39.
The guy was ahead of his times when it came to fashion. Just look at those sunglasses and the hair. Johnny Bench would’ve killed a man for hair like that.
This was an interesting time in Pete’s life. He was freshly divorced from his first wife in 1980 when he made $805,000, was about to turn 40 and knew that he’d pass Stan Musial for the N.L. hits record later in the year.
You can’t really blame the guy for going rockstar at Daytona. He was on the prowl.
