Texas has been cruel to Wade Phillips lately. After his stint with the Dallas Cowboys ended with a mid-season firing in 2010, Phillips worked his way into the defensive coordinator job with the Houston Texans in 2011.
Despite heading into the 2013 season with Super Bowl aspirations, the Texans flamed out, going 2-14 and earning head coach Gary Kubiak a pink slip. New coach Bill O’Brien opted not to retain Phillips, meaning Wade has to find work elsewhere in 2014.
Since both of the NFL franchises in Texas have kicked him to the curb, Phillips may not want to live in the state. He recently put his Dallas home on the market for $2.95 million.
For that money, you’ll get five wood-burning fireplaces, wood floors suitable for bearskin rugs and a room where Phillips used to admire his balls. Game balls; he had a bunch of ’em.
